Man, that is a really cool area of the state. I'm going to have to take a trip up there sometime. It's been a LONG time since I've been there. Thanks for the pics redbird.

Is that the area near the Kiamichi River that was known as "Seven Devils" during the days of the Choctaw Nation?

had to spend some time out and around Covington yesterday. We are doing a job on a quarter section with some minor issues. Thought I would share a little with the rest of you...

For those who like cemeteries, here is the Belen Cemetery, just south of Covington. Dates go back to the mid 1880's, so many of these people were from the land run. It's amazing to see how many children lived for just a few months. We take medicine and health issues so much for granted......

This is an unnamed cemetery east of Covington a few miles. It, too, dates from the land rush.

This is one of the stones used for a foundation for the barn on an old landrun homestead

Here is the hidey hole from the homestead

A farm house and barn from the area

You notice how the land is kind of flat? This is a great place if you want to see scenery........there is absolutely NOTHING to get in the way of the view.......

Yep, lots of OKIE's in California. Seems they got out during the dust bowl era. It's funny how many Californians moved to Seattle back in the late 80's. Seemed like after talking with them I learned how many were from Oklahoma or had direct links to Okies. Guess Ass-holes spread!

Pardonnez moi, but I am the one who took those pictures. He merely posted them

Of course, the posting is the hard part.

Aren't those cemetaries cool, though? I love doing those rural land appraisals .... as you walk the land you never know what you'll find.
