Default Thinking of moving to Phoenix from NYC

HEllo all..After 4 years of travel in the AND1 tour I returned home to NYC to realize I hated it. So I moved to South Beach, but it wasn't as cool as I anticipated. The other city I considered livivng in is Phoenix. I would live downtown probably in the Camden or Summit.?

Tell me all about downtown; nightlife, jobs, girls etc... I'm in my 20's I love basketball girls and video games is this the place for me ? I hate cold weather !!! And I've been to Phoenix during the summer so I know what to expect ....

This is not a good time to be looking for a job. . . in Phx or anywhere else, for that matter. I think some of the fast food joints are still hiring!

Moving to Phoenix... I know it is hot. Hispanics don't worry me but criminals do, regardless of race. I will be attending MMI north of Phoenix. I will be renting and would like to live in a nice area fairly close to school which is Deer Valley Road just west of 17. More importantly, I want to avoid a bad area. I would like my wife to feel safe. She likes to shop and go out on weekends so we will need to be close to areas that offer those things. Safe, shopping, dinner places, cool bars that are not overrun by 20 something deralicts. Nothing against them, I was one once but have moved on.

Also... I am a bartender and will be looking for work in a cool, lively bar/resturaunt. Any suggestions for nice places will be appreciated. Not looking for a fast paced nightclub or a ritzy old folks scotch drinkin golfer hangout. Something in between?

Any advice?
