I have been interested in Houston lately

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I live in Phoenix and have been thinking a lot about moving to Texas. I can't find a job here and the ecenomy is horrible right now. I have heard that Houston is the place to be right now especially with this tough economy.

Would it be hard for me to move there and find a good job and place to live??

I know you poor misguided soul. I too fell for the Phoenix thing. I lived there for 11 years back when Phoenix was the place to be. But now thats all over, with the crash of the housing market and the loss of jobs Phoenix just isn't where it's at anymore.

I will IM you with imformation that will help you escape. I wonder how many others are in this same position right now?? Scared, unable to find a job, not knowing what to do or where to go. There is hope. You will be safe here.
Actually I read an article that said that Philadelphia and Washington DC would be the best places to be with the rough economy. Both are not reliant on the financial industry. They have more people employed in the government, legal, and educational sectors. The two worst places to be were Chicago and New York due to their heavy reliance on the financial sector. I have heard that Houston and Dallas have had a hard time with falling oil prices because they are both oil based economies.

I would think that Charlotte, which has done pretty well up till now, will be hurt by the banking problems as well.

where to get the best job, let's face it, all this is dependant on your education, your resume and your field..You wouldn't want to come to Jane, Mo if your field in techology and if you are into Sun City type of life style or you want to work in a casino, I wouldn't suggest moving to ARkansas. Sky instructors don't do too well in AZ, FL or Texas..

Is it only the Phoenix/Arizona forum that attracts this amount of trolls, or is it widespread throughout city-data?

We seem to be unique for people coming from "other states" for no other reason than to take a shot at Phoenix or Tucson. The other forums all have their share of bashers who don't like where they live, but you rarely see the outsider attacks like this one that we get. Maybe it's because they get a rise out of us.

Sorry, but it does hurt to hear the truth once in a while, right? And I live in this pit, so I can speak to it. Well, actually I live in N. Scottsdale, and that is close enough. And, btw, do you live in Vegas, yet you accuse someone else of coming to a forum where he doesn't belong?!

Just scrolling down the main page and this thread caught my eye....

I have no personal connection with any of these cities. My current status as a Dallas resident gives me nothing pro or con for Houston and I have never been to LA or Phoenix.

I would point out that the original title of the thread is a misleading statement in the first place. Houston and LA have always been larger than Phoenix. If greatness is measured by population and ecomonimcs, I don't think anyone in Phoenix would claim to have been greater than LA or Houston at any time in the present or past.

However, economics and sheer numbers do not make a city great all on their own. Quality of life issues aren't so easily measured. Phoenix has many things I am sure that Houston or LA cannot match and its citizens have nothing to prove to either city being compared to here or to the OP who obviously has an axe to grind or simply loves trolling.

The fact that McCain is an Arizona native and has ably represented that state and carried the area is no reason to point any fingers or claim some kind of moral superiority. States usually go for their native son in national elections. No reason to read anything else into that.

Phoenix has had phenomenal growth in the past several decades, so have Houston and LA. But Houston and LA have been larger for all of my life, so asserting that Phoenix was greater and has lost something is a preposterous point to claim in the first place.

No need for anyone with any intelligence to take the bait of an ignorant OP and get their hackles up. Phoenix, you are a great city that I hope to visit someday. Houston, you are OK too. Now if you wanna debate Houston and Atlanta, I'll roll up my sleeves. But not here in the AZ forum

Well, a level-headed post, and I don't know the motives of the OP. All I know is I DO live here and my vote counts. Having said this, Houston doesn't interest me in the least. I went to Atlanta only once, so cannot comment, at all. Cannot say it's a great city unto itself. I don't know. I was there ONCE. But I did live in SoCal and can comment on L.A. Hands down, far more interesting than Phoenix.
