The Real ID act was passed and is now in effect. Federal mandate that everyone has to get a state ID so having it for voting will not be an issue in the near future.
I just voted, I was not asked for any ID, no voter card, no DL, in the near future what date does it go into effect?
And government holds similar standards for such things like bank accounts, licenses to carry a firearm, (or even buy one nowadays), marriage, or even fishing..
let me know when the left gets outraged because the right is trying to fix "marriages"..
If Govt. hold certain standards for voter rights why has nothing been done in the past 11 years, why wasn't a law passed back then in 2000 after the votes for Bush & Dole, wasn't that election questionable. Why now?

This affects both sides.
Maybe because voter fraud wasn't as bad back then ?
It wasn't done in 2008 elections either.

"From accusations and indictments to convictions, 2010 has been a busy year for prosecutors dealing with vote fraud issues.
Prosecutors filed charges in vote fraud cases this year from the West Coast to the East Coast and in all the regions in between."
I think it is the idea of the govt. issue picture ID that is the issue, not identification. Most states (Delaware being an exception when I lived there) give you a voter registration card when you register. Why shouldn't that be enough? With mail-in ballots becoming very popular here in the western states, it's the signature that needs to match the signature on the card. There is no picture ID involved.
So I am sure the District is hiring handwriting experts checking these signatures? Really?
My state, you have to have picture ID. I don't mind. I want legal registered voters, not just anybody, voting.
When could anyone open a bank account without identification?
I don't recall that in my lifetime.
You just needed to produce your paystub/payroll check. I did not have a license.
Only thing I ever ran into was moving back to my original state, they keep on file original issued DL, when I came back I had to prove my name change and produce a marriage license before they would issue a new DL even tho they knew it was me, I was then issued my old DL # with new name
As much as I would like to see this as some kind of right wing conspiracy, I don't. You have a year to make arraingements.
On March 4, 2011, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano extended by 20 months (to January 15, 2013) the May 10, 2011 deadline for states to be in full compliance with the Real ID.

so you voted without identifying yourself in anyway......and you wonder why we need a photo id
did you vote in the correct district???
sorry, but too much fraud has happened , we NEED to have ID, we need a national standard
