The righties have too much of an emotional investment in Ahmedinejad's being some sort of monster to heed something so trivial as the actuality of the matter. Same could be said with regard to Hugo Chavez. This sort of puppet-theater view of the world helps keep scary things such as complexity out of the mix that they need to process. No need for nuance when a handy pre-printed label can be applied that will take care of the whole ball of wax for them all at once...

let me know when he complies with the rest of the world with his nuclear program and then we can actually talk. Till then he's as rouge as anyone.

Comparatively it's effectively saying we shouldn't need to check our beef supplies the farmers would never do anything that would be dangerous to the cows or other humans for their own profit. It's not about giving them a chance......they have had every chance in the book and still spit out garbage.

I don't see it as a label I see it as following the rules...but I guess those are subjective?

Has everyone on the left lost their senses? People who once were in favour of non-proliferation now trying to rationalise a madman getting nuclear weapons?

Does anyone in his right mind actually think that adding another member of the nuclear club is a good idea? Really? Show of hands? Whether Ahmedinijad said he would wipe Israel or the Zionists or the Jerusalem regime off the map is a distraction at best. Another country with nuclear weapons is a bad thing. Period.

People on the left once understood this.

Israel, Israel...lemme see. Aren't they also the country that holds the all-time world record for being in non-compliance with the most UN Security Council Resolutions?

A) There's no reason to conclude that Ahmadinejad or any of the mullahs is a madman, and B) unlike some countries that could be mentioned, Iran is an NNPT signatory. They have every right to develop nuclear energy, which (despite uninformed claims over 'all that oil' they have) they desperately need. Where are all these weapons programs that people rant over? Nobody has found even a trace of one for years...

Since when.....1990?

They just now agreed to talks and they went no where with what was called gibberish if I remember correctly from the representative.

How come they have so many sanctions if they are complying?

How come they have two weeks to come back with a real answer. I suggest you get a little more ind depth when reading things from official agencies.

Sounds like you are in as much denial as they are. They have been offered the option of having nuclear energy without uranium enrichment and they have absolutely rejected it. We will soon see if they are madmen or not.

No your right they haven't......they haven't been allowed to inspect.....just like Iraq did before that war.

They do have rights to have nuclear power.....once they comply like everyone else. And all the oil they have they can't use because they have no refineries. They have to buy the oil from a country that does....but they do have oil.

I think this guy plainly has an agenda, and any attempt to derail it will be met with denial or obfuscation. For example, no one is arguing that Iran does or does not have "the right" to develop nuclear energy. It is about whether a reasonable 'case' exists for the rulers of that nation to be added to the nuclear club.

Not in my book.
