Since I live on Ellsworth I also added Box Elder to my app on my phone so I'd also get weather alerts for Pennington since all of the weather sites consider Ellsworth to be in Meade County. Most of base housing is in Meade.
How about some long term crazy weather. I found the following in the Farmers Almanac. Actually the "chilly" weather is forecast to begin about 8/20, but I couldn't fit august into my clip.
September 2009
1st-3rd Thunderstorms, some heavy for the Rockies, then into the Great Plains. 4th-7th Dry weather, but temperatures are on a definite decline. 8th-11th Unseasonably chilly air spills across the Northern Plains, moving south. Showers 12th-15th Showers slowly end from west to east. 16th-19th Chilly over most of the Rockies and Plains. Showers Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri. 20th-23rd Light showers for the Northern Plains. 24th-27th Rain showers are scattered and light. 28th-30th Showers and rain precede a sharp cold air from the Rockies. Developing storm system brings with it rainy weather for Great Plains east, followed by an early season freeze or frost.
You ok over there in Mitchell - I saw you guys got slammed with some pretty big hail over the weekend - wondered how you made out.
Been missing chatting with you all - moving this weekend into a town house - can't wait - we'll have a garage and tons more closet space than we've had for the last 6 years. I'm not sure I'll know how to act, not stuffed in tight.
So, how's everybody doing?? Been keeping busy, doing any vacationing??
Ok, I promise to check in more often. I didn't realize it had been so long until I saw the date of my last post. Sorry.....
We got lucky in Belle and Spearfish over the weekend - however, the big stuff went right through Sturgis on Friday night. Golf ball to baseball sized hail! (Check the pics from the RC Journal...) Our Ranger's vehicles all sustained severe damage (one may be totaled), lots of property damage, but luckily, few injuries. Our guys were actually trapped in their trucks at the time of the storm - said it was pretty unreal!
Hope the rest of you fared okay!
