Just finished Brother Odd I will definitely read the next book though Odd Thomas is no Harry Keogh he's still entertaining.
I'm a huge fan of medieval military strategies and battles so I have read through a lot of crappy fantasy to find the good authors like David Gemmell, George RR Martin and Feist. I'm fixing to read The Eyes Of God by John Marco I've never heard of him but the reviews I've read sound good to me so hopefully he will be a good one.
I just started THE MEDICUS by Ruth Downie. This is her first novel and I think she may end up on my personal list of "favorite authors".
The story is about a Roman Doctor during the Roman occupation of Brittanica. He gets involved in the forensic investigation of the murders of several prostitutes. I am less than fifty pages into the story but the first two pages had me hooked. I will probably fall asleep with it tonight.
On Monday after work I started the Deer Leap by Martha Grimes, and finished it on Wednesday. As of the 25th, I'm off work until the 5th, and the weather is yucky. So Friday I read The Life of Pi by Yann Martel, and yesterday I read Bones to Ashes by Kathy Reichs. Today I started another Martha Grimes book - Rainbows End. But I've been watching NFL football all day, so I don't think I'll finish it today. I sometimes go for months without reading a thing, and then I get into these phases where I seem to do nothing else.
Right now I'm reading The Game of Our Lives by Peter Gzowski. It's about the 1980-1981 Edmonton Oilers. It's one of the best books I've ever read, not just one of the best hockey or sports books.
And I received Team of Rivals for Christmas. That's a huge freaking book!
Just started We Were the Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates.
So far, so good!
I thought that one was quite good.
Last week I finally finished Shantaram, an autobiographical tale by Gregory Roberts. What a wrenching yet rewarding experience!
I've gotten halfway through Obama's Audacity of Hope; it's quite readable and conversational.
Next up: The Widow Clicquot: The Story of a Champagne Empire and the Woman Who Ruled It
And I received Team of Rivals for Christmas. That's a huge freaking book!
I have heard many people say great things about this book! Am dying to read it!
I just finished Stones from the River by Ursula Heigi. Very good! A heavy read though, took me much longer than I thought. I would like to read more of her.
