Just began The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner. Not sure what I think of it yet.

I liked reading his opinion about everything from Baez, to witnesses, and Casey herself. But, wow, I was so disappointed he offered nothing on what him and the team felt when they went to the court room and heard the verdict. All he said was they went into the court room and found out she was not guilty on the big charges and guilty on a few minor charges, then went on to the next topic.

He offered his opinion and what the team felt on everything, but he totally skipped over that. I was dying to hear from him what him and the other attorneys felt on his team after working for over 3 years to convict Casey and suddenly it all ended with a not guilty verdict. Kind of bummed me out, but all in all a good book.

Next, I might read Shaquille O'Neal's new book just to get a break from the seriousness of the Casey Anthony book.
I read through some of that. To me, it came across as alot of sour grapes over losing the case. I personally wasn't too impressed, but it was interesting none the less to see his side.

I finished The Memory Palace by Mira Bartok. It was OK. I'm not a fan of how it was written, but it was an interesting (and sad) memoir.

I'm about to start The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes. We shall see...

I'm about half way through -- it's a very short book and I'm reading it between doing household chores -- but I wanted to report back to say that this book is TERRIFIC! I'm definitely loving it and wishing that it was longer.

Oh good! I'm glad you found a book you can get into. I'm starting Orson Scott Card's Ender's Shadow. I find his books very easy to get into and right now too much real life is interfering with my reading life for me to start something more serious.

Just picked up Judi Dench's biography at the library. I like her alot and thought it would be interesting.

By the way - this thread was started back in August of 2006. Maybe it's time to start a new one.

Please let me know what you think about the book. I'm a big fan of Judi Dench. She seems like such an interesting person.

I have read some really fine biographies and autobiographies in the last year or so. I'm always on the lookout for good ones.

Oh, me too-fan of JD...

Reading a biography of Boris Pasternak, his life/works intertwined with a lot of Russian history. Very interesting.

At the time he won the Nobel Prize for Doctor Zhivago, he turned it down, out of fear of being banished from his native Russia. (Russia refused to publish this book)

I love this thread! Also, I think there's something to be said for longevity in this crazy cyber world we inhabit. I've picked up lots of great suggestions for books here, and really enjoy the conversation. Why start a new one?
