Well thank you Mattie.

I like feeling that what I'm learning can help empower others, as I've been empowered by others. It's freeing to know that I can do things to help myself and not depend on others.

The car battery died twice last season but both times the guy parked close to me jump started the car so I didn't have the chance to try out my charger. Plus I have roadside assistance so wasn't overly concerned.

It's such a relief that between the BOLT charger and the JACO tire gadget, I can take care of things.

For when my jeep is parked at home & i have 120 volt power available, i hook my jeep up to my battery maintainer/tender, all the time when i'm not going somewhere. It's hooked up all year long if i'm not using the jeep. It keeps the battery charged.
I bought maintainer from Amazon about 20 years ago. I paid under $20, at the time.

I use the BatteryMINDer.

A battery trickle charger is a very good tool for when you have access to AC power.

Mine gets more use in the winter since I drive less.

The brand on mine is Schumacher 1.5 amp 6/12 volt Maintainer.
Thank You.

looks like that one .

Have your battery at a good state of charge when you attach the maintainer. It will keep it at a good state of charge. It usually depends on how old the battery is.

I'm thinking of having a wellness check done on the car before I leave. I tend to do that every time I take a long trip, just to make sure everything is ok. It cost me about $70 but I think that's money well spent, just like oil changes.

My battery is right around 5 years old but I got the best one they had prior to leaving Minnesota the first time. Last year it was still in great shape but the posts did need cleaning. So much dust out in the desert.

I'll check into the battery maintainer once I get back to Minnesota. I'll be moving every two weeks, if not more while at Pahrump but really, outside of doctor appointments, I only leave the farm for groceries, etc once a month.

I do have a doctor's appointment June 2nd to check how my arteries are doing plus I need another ultrasound prior to that. Sigh. Not looking forward to it.

When the kid called me to reschedule the original appointment from the end of May to June, I almost laughed. I'd totally forgotten about it.

One of the best things I ever did was to pick the higher priced health insurance. My hospital stay was over $30,000 and between Medicare and insurance I only paid slightly over $200.

My insurance does cost me $84 a month but, I do not pay for prescriptions and out of pocket is way low. When I think of what I could have been stuck paying, I shudder.

It certainly has been worth every penny.

1 or 2 of the batteries i kept the maintainer on lasted about 7-8 years. 1 was a Les Schwab battery.
1 was a Walmart Everstart battery, Manufactured by Johnson Controls. One of the 3 best battery manufacturers in the USA. There is also Delphi & Exide Manufacturers.

Yes, the maintainer will do you the most good where you will constantly be hooked up to 120 volt electric.
