I've avoided them thus far because I wasn't sure what I could contribute but then I realized there must be others that eat plant based food and really, the only thing is that you don't add meat. Tasty Bites packets are delicious and I'll just make two packets and folks can add their own meat if they want.
Each day there is something new here. The wind has been so brutal that it's hard to get things done.
Being in such a small space, I have to keep on top of things on a daily basis. But, it's been hard to do that with the wind. I try to get as much as possible done when the wind behaves. But it's been tough.
I'm not complaining as I know the weather has been difficult everywhere. It's a matter of learning to do things differently. I get things done as early as possible whenever I can.
It doesn't help that Marigold sleeps on the blankets and I can't fix the bedding until she eats or goes outside. Unfortunately, the eating part is often when the wind has been at it's worse. So it's been hit or miss.
I would like to take things out and totally repack things but I am afraid things would fly away in the wind.
I haven't been to the retirement forum for quite a while but today I did a post explaining what I'm doing in retirement.
Someone posted after me and shared the link to this thread, which is great, except the person shared from day 1. Even I don't want to go through 1193 posts!
But I will say that it would have been helpful if I'd had something like this to read the joys and the pitfalls as I was starting out. I feel I have grown so much in these two years.
I remember the first time traveling, before I started posting here. I was terrified, certain I was going to run into bad people who would take all my money, and that's when I stayed in motels, because that's what you were supposed to do.
I could never have imagined myself sleeping in a car in the desert. So glad I found cheaprvliving!
Is the weather in Pahrump better than in Quartzsite (meaning, less wind)? It would be tempting to take off early and get to better weather, if it exists.

I'm not certain. I know it's colder so don't want to get there too soon, plus it will be camping on BLM land and having to move every two weeks, which is fine with a group. Not so much by myself.
I'd just as soon stay where I'm at until it's time to get there and meet up with the group.
I remember when you said you thought this thread had fizzled out.
Lol not a chance.
It's amazed me that people still find it interesting
