By the way,, we decided the noises I heard was more than likely from the dust storm and dust hitting my car.

Drove from 7 to now, 4:15. Pretty tired but just didn't want to stop too soon. I did that yesterday and stayed at a Love's. Was not a great night, noisy and too bright. Then I realized after I left that there was a rest stop just down the road.

I'm now at a beautiful rest stop and they allow overnight parking, at least for little old ladies who walk with a cane.

Still over 500 miles to go but I only drive 6ph so it takes longer.

Finally stopped for the night at a rest stop a ways from San Antonio
It's nice enough, plenty of picnic areas with tables and a grill. The attendant said I could stay and I am so grateful. I've been fighting the wind all day and am tired.

These Texans know how to make a person feel welcome.
The drive down I-10 is beautiful. Another awesome area to see

Do you have earplugs and/or eye masks/shades? I often keep weird hours so I always sleep with a mask (not always with earplugs since my neighborhood is VERY quiet, but sometimes I do when I want to be TOTALLY zonked out!).

6 mph? I don't think so!

I'm sure we will. She wasn't too happy last night as it was a regular parking lot and lots of dogs so I couldn't let her out. Here, there's parking in front but you drive around to the back and it's a picnic area with a bunch of trees so she's in her element. We're also the only ones here, outside of the attendant and he's in the front area. He did come to check on us but then went back to the front.

I forgot to mention that I went fro paying $4.59-4.79 through Arizona and New MEXICO TO $3.25 in Texas for gas.

I'm confused. Did you say that your a/c was OK and only your brakes needed fixing? How is the temperatures in Texas? Was it hot in Sierra Vista?

First, the ac just needed freon, I also had them do a travel inspection and that's when they found the brake issue.

The weather right now: severe thunderstorm until 10 pmand there was a barrage of hail. Sure glad I got off the road! Just hope the car isn't damaged because the hail was huge and ferocious.
Sierra Vista was hot.

It had stopped raining for a few hours but now it's thundering and lightning. Awesomely beautiful. Just raining slightly.

I haven't seen this since I left Minnesota. I've missed it as I have always loved storms.

Revision: It's seriously raining. Wow.
