shortage? justify small rifle primers at more than 3 times the cost.
rip off
haven't seen speer 1408 .257/100gr, in more than a year
Most of the manufacturers are dedicating their primer production to manufacturing the more profitable completed rounds. Nothing nefarious there - once the stocks are back up, primers will be back and dropping in price. One of the reasons I stopped reloading - when supplies are low, primers are in very short supply, and what IS available is expensive. I've opted to stay VERY deep in loaded rounds (think tens of thousands) instead.

Reloading certain calibers is still cost effective. My 7mm-mag likes Federal premium 160gr partitions- and they run $70 a box, or about $3.50 p/rd. The cost of my H1000 (based on a current advertised price if in stock ) is .50cents, a primer .10cents, and the bullet $1.00. I've already got plenty of brass. So $1.60 vs $3.50.

True - but I may shoot 6-8 rounds of 7mm mag/year vs 3-5k/yr of 45 ACP......
