I was just trying to make it less confusing for people, and you're certainly entitled to your opinion as well, I just simply disagree.
And what is so wrong about the government banning spanking? In our society, we have laws and punishments for a reason, and those are implemented by the government. I as a civilian can't arbitrarily put someone in jail because I think they did something wrong, the government has been given that authority from the people.
ok, thanks for being so kind and clearing things up....
If the government was allowed to boycott spanking, then where's the line gonna be? Is it by someone using a ruler, belt, or a spoon? What would be the line for those of you who favor this measure?

What if someone were to threaten to swat a brat?
Would the government give you just a light touch with the taser?
Simply put, you are now putting goverment in the role of child rearing and child discipline - a role that should be left totally, and completely, up to the parents.
By putting government in that position, you are advocating a Nanny State -
I believe government does have a role. I don't think it would be appropriate to have child rearing completely left up to the parents. For example, this may sound morbid, but what if a parent determines that the way to punish his/her child is by cutting off a finger. By using your logic, that decision should be up to the parents and the government should have no right to intervene or to make that parent responsible for their actions.
I believe it's more a question of where you draw the line. I think spanking falls on the side of the line of discipline that is unacceptable. I agree that government shouldn't be making all the rules, but there are times when it's needed to ensure the rights and protection of all citizens.
Spanking is not unacceptable. I was spanked many times as a kid, and each time I was I didn't do the action my parents tole me to do again, unless I wanted to be spanked again. I was rarely spanked but when I was, it was for good reason.
Stop being a little baby. Child rearing hurts no one, not even the child. Makes them angry for ten minutes and then they go back to watching TV or playing or whatever.

I disagree....don't want the government to get involved because there are already laws on the books which are supposed to protect children from abuse....and or cutting off their fingers which is abuse...
Spanking is acceptable....you said
government shouldn't be making all the rules, but there are times when it's needed to endsure the rights and protection of all citizens??????? like our immigration laws....hummmm? Like our already laws on the books for child molestation? or how bout simple crimes...I had a neighbor who lived next to me....he murdered someone and was out on good behavior????? How bout all the people who go far beyond the speed limit? How bout all those who believe they are above the law? Who monitors all these laws and puts them into effect, effectively....????
NO sir, I do not want the government telling me I can't spank my child...cuz if you do that, you will have kids all over the place turning in their parents for nothing...I saw it happen, it doesn't work, all it does is promote bad kids to turn good parents in.
