Is the fix going to open back up your expired claim and allow you to certify weeks? This is crazy 5 weeks into and they haven't gotten their acts together with notifications.
In my case they are supposed to cancel the new claim that I opened and open my expired claim so that I can claim the 13 weeks. I was never notified I called them to see why since DOL released a press statement on June 11th saying that all with exhausted benefits had been notified. From what I was told only supervisors and specialist have system credentials to activate the PEUC extensions for those with exhausted benefits (Scenario A). The first time I spoke with them it seemed like the rep just told me something to get me off the phone. The rep I spoke with today seemed to care more after I told him about my problem. He had me on hold for about 30 min while he looked into it. He said the supervisor told him it should be fixed within a week and that they would only contact me if they needed more information otherwise they would just fix it. He said to check my claim status daily and if there was no update within a week to call back. Keeping my fingers crossed.

fingers crossed for you. it's just ridiculous that they state wait to be notified and then put it on the claimant to try day after day week after week to get through and even then a tiny chance you get someone who knows what the heck they're talking about. But at least this person makes it sound like NJ UI is still making its way through exhausters in Scenario A. Under Federal guidelines it dictates that states are to notify those eligible for PEUC. You're even further back than me (I exhausted benefits 7/20/19 and benefit year expired 1/19/20).

are you saying the PEUC 13 week extension is only 7 weeks for those who are on PUA claims???? Where did you see that information as in all I've read in the guidelines I have not seen that indicated.

This is the original information posted 6 weeks ago from NJ DOL. Which of these scenarios are you in?

FROM NJ DOL:

Are you currently receiving or have applied for unemployment benefits? If yes, no action is required. The 13-week extension will be automatically available to you after your current balance is exhausted. Otherwise, read the scenarios below:

What do I need to do to access the 13-week extension of benefits under the CARES Act?

Do any of these describe you?

SCENARIO A:

Do these describe you?

On a date after July 8, 2018, I filed for unemployment.

I have not worked since the dates in 2018-2020 when I collected unemployment.

I have exhausted my balance OR my benefit year ended on my most recent claim.

If this describes you, WAIT for notification
from NJ Department of Labor before you certify for benefits.

SCENARIO B:
[note: SCENARIO B DOES NOT really apply to the current Class of "Exhausters"]

Do these describe you?

On a date after July 8, 2018, I filed for unemployment.

I have worked since the dates in 2018-2019 when I collected unemployment.

If both describe you, file a new claim if you haven’t already.

##################################################

SCENARIO C:

Do these describe you?

On a date after July 1, 2019, I filed for unemployment benefits.

I have NOT utilized all 26 weeks of benefits.

If both describe you, just re-open your claim if currently closed.

**Begin certifying for benefits again.**

The 13 weeks will be automatically set once you certify for your benefits. You will get another online questionnaire different than the one you certify for weekly benefits on a regular basis. You should be getting a letter in the mail that you are approved. Hope this helps.
