Honestly.. Between ST's, the Coaches and the AP Polls.. I disagree with all but the AP dropping VT so much. They lost to the #2 team.

They looked bad in doing so.. But.. I think the AP poll is about right having them 16th. Of course.. There's not a whole lot of difference that I can see between 10 and 20.. So.. There's that.

Clemson is the reason why preseason polls are completely useless!

Alabama, a team that didn't even win the championship last year started preseason #1 has only played 1 game against a "ranked" team (a team not even ranked anymore) on a neutral field. Clemson, the defending champions starts the preseason ranking at #5, has played 3 teams ranked in the top 14 at the time they played (and all 3 are still currently in the top 17), and played 2 of the 3 games on the road. Only an Alabama or SEC homer would say Alabama has played the tougher schedule, but since Clemson started #5 and Alabama started #1,and since neither has lost yet, Alabama is still ranked #1 even though Clemson has played BY FAR the far superior schedule. If the first poll came out in week 6 or 7 instead of in August like it should, Clemson would be #1 like they should be.

Well written, Seven.

How could anyone see this and not agree with that?

The only part where I can make an argument for Alabama #1 and Clemson #2 is that Clemson hasn't looked great offensively in 2 of those three wins against ranked teams. And didn't look good in the game against Boston College, either.

Alabama has shown strength on both sides of the ball. The offense didn't look too great against Florida State, but you can possibly chalk that up to being the first game of the season.

Personally, I agree with you.. I've been calling the past 2 or 3 weeks that Clemson should be #1 over Alabama. But.. You know, as a Clemson fan.. I know that Dabo is using this as motivation. And, while I'm worried about the offensive woes.. I recall the same thing last year. I think many people were saying that the 2016 Clemson team was nowhere near as good as the 2015 team. '16 Tigers 'should have' lost 3 or 4 games..

Clemson has averaged 36.4 points a game against good defenses, 34th in the nation. This is despite Dabo choosing to play conservative on offense with a lead in some of the games.

Kent State ranks 115 out of 129 schools.

#9 Auburn, #27 Louisville, #88 Boston College and #24 VT

The only "Good" ones there are top 30. So.. Take that 36 down in the 30 area. Still good.

Most teams haven't played two teams with good offenses like Clemson and Notre Dame, like BC has. BC had 4 turnovers against Wake and that is why Wake scored so much in that one.

I think Auburn's defense is probably top 5 this year and VT's is probably going to end up much higher by the end of the season.

The Tide looks about unbeatable.
This from a Big Ten fan and not at all a Tide fan.
I am just not sure anybody can stop them as roll tide appears to be rolling.

Tide hasn't played a good team yet. FSU had major problems even with their starting QB.

Yeah, they're being setup for a fall. Complacent.

They WON'T play a good team until Auburn. I would love to see Alabama vs Georgia.. And think we might get to see that later this year.

Let's take this theoretical.. Georgia remains undefeated and wins the SEC East. Alabama remains undefeated and wins the West. Georgia beats Alabama in the SEC Championship game.

Clemson and Penn State remain undefeated as well. So, you have 3 undefeated teams and a bunch of 1 loss.

Does Alabama have the resume to stay in the top 4?

Their only quality win will be over Auburn at that point, presumably.

I think not.. I think even a few 1 loss teams would be ahead of them.. Let's say that Penn State loses to Michigan, but still wins the Big 10.

This could get really, really interesting.
