Howdy one and all! Hope this Sunday is finding you all doing well.

jimj if you put a slice of bread in the container of your cookies they will soften up and stay soft until the bread dries out. I use to put yellow food coloring in my egg noodles because it made them "purdy" until I also got more aware of not needed things in our foods.

Truly tell SO happy bday! Dinner sounds great.

elizamary welcome back you have a bunch of catching up to do!

I have chicken breasts marinating haven't figured out what will go with them or how I am cooking them yet. Depends on the rest of the supper story if I use the oven or the stove top.

We didn't get but a dusting of snow here so much for those paid weather guys huh? No ice on the trees so it was a fine misting of sleet but we are fixin' to get subzero temps come Tuesday. IF I can trust the weather guys.

Good afternoon! I had to chop some ice this morning on the driveway and walkways.

Dinner is Porterhouse steak, baked potatoes, and a veggie. I also made a spice cake for DH.

I can't believe I actually messed up oatmeal cookies. But it's ok, you all have taught me to play with it so each batch is getting better! Ha! The original batch came out so dry---way dry. I did everything as directed but for some reason they were very dry. So I added another egg and it helped some. But they would not melt into a cookie shape and stayed like a little ball. I never goof up cookies---it's the ONE thing I do well. Go figure. So now I'm taking a glass and dunking the bottom in water and then in some sugar and cinnamon that I mixed together and pressing the cookies down a bit. They are ok but I wouldn't win a contest with them....sigh.......

Cyn- It happens. At least you can salvage them. Usually when I mess up they are burnt to a crisp.

OMG Cyn you are too cute.
May I suggest to you...lower your oven temp, flatten them a bit. If it says cook 10-14 min then I go with the middle number...soft and chewy
Usually when I make them I use a little less oatmeal so if it calls for 3 cups of oatmeal I use 2 1/4.

Hope that helps. I use the recipe on the Quaker Oats box and just play with it. Good Luck with the next batch.
