Wasn't that long ago when we were actually kinda the prom queens in the U.S. - http://cache.gawker.com/assets/image...8/Preamble.jpg
That was a fun photo! I was sorry to see the old orangy yellows leave Oregon back in the day, heck you do not even know an Oregon plate now there are so many. Kinda thinking this new one will blend into the Ford and the Toy since they are about the same color.

I agree, great story,
I am always wondering if I am on the "other side" when hubs and I go for a ride,
I have heard of a few tractors that set off the somethings gone past the line alarm

I like the new plates, but then I'm a "no frills" kind of gal... Meanwhile, back at the ranch...we're getting sleet today! Hey, it's not mounds of snow, but I'll take it! LOL!

Hey Montana Griz,
LOL

Nice to see professional law enforcement on the job, and using a little common sense too.

I was coming back from Canada one time into Washington state, and the US Customs officer was giving me a real ration of SXXXX, why I did not know, but I complied and opened the trunk, let him look in the engin compartment etc.
Finally he finishes, whips out his notebook and starts writing something.
"What in the world could he have found????" I questioned.

Turns out, the guy was a Montanan from Browning and was just giving me some "Montana Humor". Ha.....HA....

Turned out to be a pretty decent guy.

I was digging clams on a beach in Washington out on Pugeot Sound with a buddy of mine when the Shore Patrol came charging up. Turned out we were on a VERY restricted beach. OOPS!!
I wondered why there were so many big clams there!!
They were pretty cool and just escorted us out of the restricted area. Could have been a lot rougher, but I guess they figured we weren't too much of a danger as we were only armed with our garden trowels and bucket.

Are you chasing birds down there? I hear the Scaled Quail and Gambrils are a lot of fun.

Sounds like you are enjoying your vacation, Glad to hear it. Never was one for the desert myself, but seeing new country is always cool.

Thanks for the story!!

Hey Guys and Gals......................

The main reason I got so detailed about my contact w/ the B.P. was that it was a "pleasant encounter'. Polite, professional, friendly and no cracks about the hand gun.....in fact the implication that it was good common sense to be prepared for some possible undesireable situation to occur when you're off the main road to let your dog out, was much appreciated.

Thanks for the comments.

Hey rangerider.................. the picture of you on your horse is great. It reminded me of my "horse days", many moons ago. I immediately noticed the 1" dia braided Cotton reins and lead rope. And no bit and bridle.....just a properly fitted halter. Same way I used to handle my favorite mountain horse...."Big Red". A 1400 pound gelding that wasn't "cut" till he was 6,.....then took about 14 months to break him and get his trust and confidence. Wore # 3 shoes front and rear and used him on countless mountain hunting trips. Had him one time on a Sept, pre-season, 7 day, High Country Quality Deer Hunt (Colo F&G terminolgy). Had to be above 10,000 feet, and 4 point or better buck. We were in the LaGarita Wilderness and we went over the top of Mt Sant Louis (approx 14,000') .....don't think I could have done it "on a lesser animal". Oh by the way.....what Mountain Range is that in the background?.................. Good luck to you and the horse(s).

MT Silvertip.............. Yes that country has good Mearns quail hunting primarily and some Gamble. As you may know, virtually no cactus, lots of range grass and lots more trees than other AZ areas. The Quail season runs from Oct to early Feb. My Brittany loves it down there.....at this age I couldn't hunt that country without him......saves a million steps!!!!!
I also am not a real lover of Desert Country, that's why I was down that far south........much more acceptable desert country and very friendly locals.

Carpe Diem!!

We are finally getting some sun for a few days.....man, we need to dry out.....our soil can't take so much in such a short time....

It should get up to around 70 in my coastal area today......a few degrees higher inland....
