Envy of the third world? Perhaps. California has 1/12 of the US population, but has 1/3 of the US population below the poverty level.

Mississippi has been Republican for a while longer than California Democratic, and West Virginia changed to Republican not that much longer after California switched.
Republicans did not take control of all 3 branches of Miss's state government until 2012.

That was probably the first time Republicans controlled all 3 branches of Miss's state government.

Does anybody believe Miss is worse today than it was when Democrats controlled the state government.

the reason California is overwhelmingly Democrat today is poor legal and illegal immigrants flooding in.

this is why liberals love open borders so much...they want to transform the electorate to Californicate the entire country so Democrats are a Forever Party.

Well, going by your link, Dems had full control (Gov, House, Senate) for four total years, Republicans have had total control for six total years (a streak that continues to this day), so they’ve had control longer and if things had vastly improved, we probably wouldn’t be having this conversation.

I believe Democrats had control of at least 2 of the 3 until 2012. 2012 may have been the first time Republicans ever had all 3 branches.

The same thing is true in other southern states. Republicans in SC didn't have the trifecta until the mid 90s and I don't think any sincere person will say that SC has gotten worse since the 90s.

Their chart used to go back to at least 1980. I think they changed it b/c conservatives often link their website to make the the case against the Big Switch political theory advanced by leftists.

It shouldn't have taken until 2012 for a big switch based on racism to happen.

So hard to blame anything bad in Miss on Republicans.

When it had segregation it was run by Democrats who had the trifecta.

California is probably the most naturally beautiful state our country has to offer. Shame what the left has done to it.

Have you been to any third world country?

My wife and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit South Africa, and I'll never forget our guide explaining to me that he was doing everything he could to get his daughter admitted to a university in California. Not easy for a South African. Part of his reasoning was that his daughter could never achieve her potential where sexism was such a problem in Africa, even for a white woman.

Too bad so many Americans take so many of our most fundamental advantages for granted, to understand how California is the envy of not only the third world but the modern world too, including much of America. Advantages that lots of less fortunate people would "kill" to make possible for their family...

I don’t know why things changed on the link you posted, that’s out of my purview. The point stands though, the last six (continuing) years have been under full Republican leadership, and things look exactly the same to me, and I’ve been there this year. You can’t give the Republicans a pass on how things are while towing the “bad Democrats” line, I know you want to, but to do so would be extremely disingenuous.
