We have no income tax, no personal property tax, no tolls, no car inspections, basically nothing. Property tax is dirt cheap, say about $175 a month for a $400,000 house. Car registration is $70/year. Gas is $2.40.

Florida is #2, also a state that's no income tax and mostly red.

California may have a huge economy, yes, but the amount of debt and overall shape they are currently in negates that somewhat. They're also by far the worst in poverty; many Californians and Democrats love to bash the South because of the poor. But California is by far the worst in that respect.
Moreover, the poorest, high crime, low education areas of the south vote nearly 100 percent Democrat.

They always leave that out.

the government can't prevent people from committing crimes in most cases or force them to study in school, etc.

Oh yea, I wasn't denying that. At least for city areas. But then again all big cities are blue mostly because of the huge amount of low-income people who depend on/want the government tit. Maybe a few coastal cities are exempt from that generalization, but yeah.

The bumpkin types in bumfunk (at least in Tennessee) are mostly Republican, though.

Bash California but here, same source, different article, not too shabby

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-sta...nkings/economy

The debt does negate, but there's still money, lots of it, coming in, not just money, but talent from other places, all coming here, I don't know if they know what they're in for, but they're still coming. In terms of poverty, of course, the border state with most people will most likely have a high poverty rate, there's no way around that, but don't fall into the trap of thinking everyone here is poor and wondering where the next meal is coming from. There's clearly a lot of people here doing well. With that said, people bsh California all day on CD, sometimes Californians bash back, so here we are. Whether Californians are the worst or the horde of BFE posters here that do the same is, I don't know if I can put a number on either to say which one is in fact worse (even though we are in a thread started to bash CA, lol).

I have found many Californians overly defensive.

But I won't deny that, yes, people bash the hell out of it.

I lived in California, I'm well aware of how much money is there....it's hard to wrap your mind around it.

But overall I don't think CA is in a good place; I think the opposite is true.

We personally couldn't wait to GTF outta there. We planned to live there for 5 years but left after 2, lol.

Ha, I see that from time to time. I'm originally from NYC so I'm used to the upside down politics, I'm gonna stick it out for the time being and wait for the pendulum to swing back to reality.

California has a lot of money and rich people, Appalachia doesn't.

What is California's excuse for the poverty in CA if liberals there believe in socialism.

seems like everybody there should be middle class at minimum if socialism works.

there's plenty of rich people in california so why hasn't their tax revenue solved poverty.

Most hillbillies are patriotic, though. As in "Murica, Miller lite drinking, big trucks lol etc. They don't hate America like some of the leftists.

I truly don't think it ever will. But for your and the state's own sake, I hope it does.
