However, I think the NHC "cone of uncertainty" was on.

In hindsight, I didn't need to evacuate to Macon, GA with my family, but overall I'm glad I did given the information I had. Anyways, I'm in South Tampa, and awaiting an assessment from a friend.
I live in Palma Ceia, just came back a couple of hours ago, I did not see a lot damage, branches down, the usual spots that flood like Henderson/Dale Mabry are dry, I havent seen any flooding really. No power though. I see its pockets hopefully they bring it back up quick.

The "journalist" looks like a complete idiot just to make this storm worse then it is.

Meanwhile if these journalist would go to the right spots they would see owners/tenants who have properties destroyed due to flooding etc

in fairness to the brave and intrepid weather correspondent, she did correctly point out that the trees around her; "were blowing in the wind" and indeed they were!

Good to hear that damage was minimal around your area. Where did you come back from? Asking as some people who evacuated to Georgia have reported problems with trying to get back.

from the other forum...eye opener about national media....I'll give our local media a break, but they too were working hard to find a story when there was none.

We're only getting remnants here in the Atlanta area, but authorities are recommending evacuees stay put until conditions improve later... if it was me would want to return ASAP, since it's just moderate rain now with some gusts.

The Weather Channel is out of control, same with CNN. Jim Cantorie and Stephanie Abrams are the worst for the drama. This morning TWC was disappointed that Tampa Bay didn't flood and was still waiting for it saying there was still a chance.

I was in an USF area hospital, they hosted employees in patient rooms.

You can never over prepare. If the media helped to "over prepare," I will take that any day vs. the alternative. When 50% Floridian have no power, not sure what else need to happen to respect this storm. All of us in the ocean?

Interesting to see how the models looked at it days ago. There at least one model that is right on the money several days ago. That one may have a bragging right going foreword.

Fort Myers and Cape Coral are disaster areas. No power, low water pressure. I've lived here on and off since right after Hurricane Donna in 1960 and I've never seen anything quite this bad. I thought it would never end yesterday. It's bad people.
