You must have good eyes. I have to do everything in daylight.
I am an early riser. However, the 2 to 4 AM bit is not my forte. I did my share of overnights. The fact that it is nearly 11 PM and I am still up is a miracle.
Read the last couple pages, still have a long way to catch up. I started the thread from the beginning and I'm on page 40 something, it's going to take me awhile.
I'm a bit jealous of your warmth and sunsets! I'm staring out at the frigid cloudy tundra.
I had many years of frigid cold and can empathize.
I do like It quartzite but it's not always warm. Today it's windy again. I do get tired of the wind, as does everyone.
I just saw a huge RV hauling a trailer behind it that, lengthwise is almost the same size. My first thought was, Wow, he's brought his entire house. Then I realized he probably had. As big and fancy as the RV was, I'm sure it cost a pretty penny. But if a person can afford it, why not?
I was at the blue boy dumping my waste and there was a large truck that hauled a portable blue boy that pulled in before me. He had a nice set up and it took him a bit to empty it. I complimented him on it and pointed to the Cube and said, that's my home. He exclaimed, Now that's a tiny home.
It is but somehow I'm very comfortable in it. I know some people don't understand how I could be and yes, sometimes I wish I had a bigger vehicle but, I was talking to my sister yesterday and I told her I filled up my tank when I got here and I still have 1/2 a tank left. If I stay, I probably wouldn't have to fill up again until I leave Arizona in April.
I'm probably going to go to Imperial Dam though. It depends on the friends I make here. The ones I've met would like me to move closer to them but it's just too far for me to walk to the bathroom. I would have to drive to it and that short distance wouldn't be good for my car I don't think. Sometimes you just have to accept the realities of life and having a small car and not being able to walk far are my realities.
I'm still amazed that I am doing this and I love my life. That's enough for me right now.
I grew up in Illinois, in a farming area. So much wind! Now that I'm in Florida, the only time it's windy is when there is a hurricane, which isn't often.

I do not miss the wind/cold at all!
I think I'll explore Florida next fall, if there's camping available. I believe I've heard of state or national parks that are free or low cost. I'll explore that over the summer.
I need somewhere warmer before I come to Arizona, possibly come here in February rather than October. Of course, Texas is high on the list too.
Went to the women's rtr yesterday.. It was interesting. There was a lot of walking though and my feet hurt by the end. I'm skipping today but will probably stay here until next Sunday when it ends. It depends on the size of the crowds.
I'm not much of a crowd person.
I did like the session on hygiene. It's interesting to hear how others keep clean. I do the basics and have a ton of wet wipes but since my car is so small, I do tend to pay for showers and stay in places with toilets rather than camp on BLM free land. I'm not quite there yet. Hopefully by my next visit trip.
Seeing some of the rigs, I did get van envy. Some have such neat set ups. I'm still determined to make do and save, save, save until prices come down or I have enough to buy something that is as trustworthy as this Cube is.
I look forward to the rest of the RTR. I'm not sure I'll go every day as it is hard for me to walk a lot but some of the sessions sound very interesting.
To look at the schedule I googled rtr 2022 and scrolled down to sessions. Easy.
While traveling / car camping...
I do my laundry at 2-4 in the morning, then treat myself to breakfast!
No crowds!
Plenty of available machines,
Done early,
no stress for the day,
Start out the day very clean and fresh!
Not burning daylight.
Able to stay WARM while in laundry mat.
Even the owls have turned in by then?
