These boats are good for patrolling the Sea of Azov and the Dnieper Gulf... Good for Ukraine's coast guard and not for their Navy. This is what they are going to be used for, the Morska Okhrona. This is what Russian fake news was angry about a while back when Ochakiv port was modified for some patrol boats. Conspiracy theories went into overdrive then.

The article implies some things that aren't true, but that's par for the course with Russian fake news. These aren't replacing Navy ships.
That's right. The Americans are doing well in this regard. Instead of spending your money on the disposal of this junk, it is better to sell this scrap metal to Ukraine at the price of ships and make a profit.

They are brand new patrol boats, not junk. Just because our Navy doesn't need them, doesn't mean they don't work. Very capable for the task of patrolling coastal waters. You must have missed the part where we are donating them for free.

Ukraine never really stabilised after the regime change in 2014. Things have become much worse in many ways — rampant corruption, venality, dysfunctional political system and poverty. What used to be one of the most prosperous regions of the former USSR is in decay. The charioteers of the 2014 colour revolution from the US and Europe have no interest in nation-building. All that matters to them is that Ukraine has turned into an American colony, driven by animus against Russia.

...

The story of Georgia, where the US’ regime change project in the post-Soviet period was first successfully staged, is even more tragic. As in Ukraine, in Georgia too, Russia was willing to work with the US for a democratic transition. But the US agenda narrowly focused on installing a virulently anti-Russian government in Tbilisi and a brash, US-educated lawyer named Mikheil Saakashvili — with an American wife — was brought in to serve that purpose.

Again, as in Ukraine’s Donbas and Crimea, a highly charged issue of “territorial sovereignty†was subtly brought in when Washington encouraged Saakashvili to stage an attack on Russian peacekeepers in South Ossetia in 2008, which in turn led to the loss of two breakaway regions. Georgia could never quite establish itself as a democracy, either.

Even by the ranking of American think tanks, Georgia has been steadily slipping in the democracy ratings. Then came a curious twist to the tale when the free and fair presidential election last October, threw up as winner a Georgian billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili (estimated by Forbes to be worth $5 billion).

Washington suspects that Ivanishvili who made his vast fortunes in Russia as a Russian citizen once — in metals, real estate, and banking — may be beholden to Moscow. Thus, a whispering campaign began insinuating about the Russian roots of his business empire, which has snowballed into protests demanding snap elections despite President Ivanishvili’s insistence that his loyalty to his country is not to be doubted.

We need them in Puget Sound to help stop the rampant drug smuggling in the area. We need to search the fishing boats from both countries. It's a well known fact to anyone who lives close to the water just what goes on around the NW coast.

Of course drug interdiction is THE LAST thing our politicians want here.

Is that the best "opinion" piece you got? What happened, are they getting lazy in the Kremlin lately?

And now that Georgia has been going downhill since turning back towards Russia... ahh that's America's fault too.

Russia thinks if it can ruin Donetsk, then they can point to it and say "see? America did all of this!" Sad thing is all they really accomplished was to make half of Eastern Ukraine hate them almost as much as they do in Lvov. And make Lvov into a model of development while the Donbas hollows out. My how things can change.

At least you are admitting Russia's military involvement in Ukraine. They seem to be shooting again now that their propaganda networks were shut off the TV airwaves. Even their proxy forces have announced they have permission to shoot "pre-emptively" at Ukrainian positions. I would advise them to reconsider or they will need more grave diggers in Pskov.

And now, to make Russians angry, the president of the EU Council's words as he visits Ukraine today: 'The EU, expects Russia "to reciprocate Ukraine's constructive spirit" toward Donbas settlement.

"Russia is not a mediator," the European Council President underlined. "It's a party to this conflict."

"Any country must be free to choose its own course without foreign interference," he added. "Ukraine has freely chosen its own Euro-Atlantic course."

You've got it all wrong as usual.
It's the Ukrainian troops that received the permission from their superiors to shoot now at whatever/whoever they like. So there are increasing numbers of bombed houses/people in that war zone again.
Things are heating up in Donbass, and Zelensky is spearheading the law in Rada that will allow the police to catch your Nazi buddies ( the "activists,") on the streets and to send them straight to the army, since they don't have enough of people for the army draft. Good riddance I'd say, since they all ( judging by their status of the "war veterans") should be in reserve. The more the system is crumbling down within, the more Zelesnky and Co are touting the "military solution" for Donbass.
And the more speeches he is making, inviting "people of Crimea" back to Ukraine, where they supposedly "belong."

What an idiot.

( Or may be he is on drugs as many suspect - who knows.)

Ahahaha, basically anything DKM says, you have to turn it 180 degrees and then that is what actually happened. LOL

I love his mentioning of the EU Council President, like what the EU says count for anything....Borrell's face probably is still sting from Lavrov smackdown in Moscow....
