You mean don't press discussion on the issue?
What's the point? 80% + of Russians stand by Putin for glaringly obvious reasons.

I never initiate a discussion with the goal of changing someone's mind I found out long ago I'm not persuasive enough that's a non-starter in my view.

However I am curious and enjoy learning that's all.

The Soviet Union broke up peacefully, but the consequences of this breakup will be felt for a long time.

I'm not quite that curious nor do I have the type of life that I can just leave. I would rather just hear from those with that have had experience in Russia if they chose to tell me.

I'm not totally ignorant on the subject just looking for a little more insight.

I'm American although I have traveled extensively in Russia over a long period of time and even spoke the language reasonably well at one time I'm not going to step up when there are people here that are far more qualified to give you information, and a better perspective than mine on the subject.

Talk to Max Frolov, Erasure, Selena (if she is still alive).

As an American I'll simply tell you that Americas habit of inflicting "freedom an liberty" on entire functioning nations is wrong on so many levels it makes me sick. Your first post tells me you don't know jack chit either.

Causes of events are very complex. Ukrainians and Russians are kindred peoples, their traditions and mentality is very complicated. Ukraine is home to the Ukrainians and Russians. In the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, the Russians were leaving massively in the Soviet republics, especially Ukraine and Belarus, because these countries are the descendants of a single state of Kievan Rus. In the southeast live mainly Russians. In Central and Western Ukraine live mostly Ukrainians. Everything lived relatively peacefully, but a year ago westerners Ukraine held a military coup to seize power (with the support West). In doing so they were opposed to the Russian language and Russian traditions that led to civil war with the support Russia.

Don't read too much into the posts you are referring to, sometimes I find that I get good information by taking a more extreme position and being an agitator. I can see that you have definite opinions based on experience.

You are correct that I don't have very much insight on the topic that is the reason I am speaking with you.

In the case of Poroshenko saying "Ukraine is a crappy country and it's Putin fault" works. I tried to fix things, but Putin is interfering. I mean we can keep playing blame it on Putin and do nothing.

Even Hillary can win elections if she says that Putin is a threat to word peace.

But Ultimately what West is doing is pushing Russia into another cold war.

I mean even the gas that Russia supplies to Ukraine. You have political leaders of Ukraine that approve a message of hate towards Russia and then expect free Russian natural resources.

Poroshenko engaged in a civil war in Ukraine that killed, how many 5,000 people ? Displaced 1.5 million. Was this war necessary ? What were the objectives ? What was there to win?

Ultimately I guess it is Putin's fault, he allowed Ukraine's political situation to deteriorate...

Anyway, as the terms of Porshenko's surrender he has to make Reforms in Ukraine. Those reforms were agreed up on by both Putin and EU. Does any-one know what those reforms entail?
