It should not be mandated, but if you choose to buy a firearm for the first time, get some quality training.
It's too late for her to take your advice. She's already dead. And even if she weren't, what are the odds she would be reading what you wrote? She would probably get bored and stop at "it should not be mandated."

Republicans want our society to be saturated with guns. Compared to that, nothing else matters to them. From their point of view, everyone dies and gets judged by God, so it doesn't really matter if you get shot today or live to be 90. To them it's all the same. And the more people get shot, the less traffic there will be.

Why would anyone keep a loaded gun within reaching distance of a 2 year old??? If you do have handguns and toddlers, at least have enough sense to have a 12 pound trigger pull

That is just plain stupid. At least the kid didn't shoot himself, that would have been worse.

The "Deflection Nonsense" as you say is a tactic used by both sides. I have already demonstrated that licensing and registering Gun Owners will not save any more lives than Licensing and registering Drivers. You don't have to agree with or like the truth but it is the truth regardless. Being an Idiot can be a terminal condition. No matter what "thing" you happen to have access to. Idiots are allowed and encouraged to ignore logic on whatever the issue. So what next selective breeding? I mean how many people lost their lives today in any number of "accidents" due to negligence? We have turned into a bunch of nutty, whiney, gluten free simpletons here in this country. God forbid people be accountable for their actions. Nothing is ever our fault. If only we threw more money, legislation, outrage at "fill in the blank" surely we would triumph.

I feel bad for the Children. I feel bad for the Family, I feel bad for the people who may have witnessed this tragedy. What I will not do is start to try and idiot proof life through legislation. There are many examples such as automobiles which seem to be everyone's favorite analogy which prove that more laws, more restrictions, more whatever will not save us from acts of irresponsibility or negligence.

You want to save us from idiots? It is not one of the great mysteries. The odds of all tragedies declining steeply increase exponentially if people would be parents to their children and that means not just sharing the same mailing address.

This was a horrible tragic accident.

Happy New Year!

They do. Just like Medication. Which also takes lives.

Yeah, but they have to have the hammer drawn back for a 2 year old to have a chance at firing it.

Idiotic.

Funny you mention that, because I never mix my meds with alcohol and keep them away from kids. The same advice should be followed with guns.

Your Right Personal Protection in Chicago was deemed a dumb idea and undesirable and so they legislated it away. Problem solved right? After all It has been decades since anyone in Chicago has been killed by a person with a Gun and was unfortunately legally prohibited from being able to defend themselves. So as far as your concerned you are safe ChrisfromChicago.

Wrong. They want everyone who wants to own one to be able to. No one is saying you should get a firearm if you don't want one. They want people to be able to defend themselves should they need to and choose to.
