I agree this is a bad idea, but it is true that Ford and GMC already had this plan in place.
Because of strict regulations under the Obama Administration that would have omitted most, if not all, new ICE vehicles from being sold in the United States. That was reversed under the Trump Administration, and now the Biden Administration has renewed it. Now, by 2026, all new vehicles sold have to get significantly better fuel economy, a forty-nine mile per gallon fleet average, to be legally sold in the United States. No ICE vehicle can meet that. I am unsure whether most hybrids can meet that, too.
It should also be stated, that the rise of ESG, brought to us by left-wing global fanatics, plays a crucial part in this, as well.
Make no mistake, this is government driven, 'woke' private enterprise driven, and elitism driven, not market driven.
80% of Californians who own an electric vehicle also own a 2nd gasoline powered vehicle to supplement their needs. Only 1 in 5 Californians rely exclusively on an electric vehicle.

Just saying.
Thats a false premise.
we dont buy multiple cars at once unless we are super wealthy. So any house hold which has 2 cars we can simply assume purchased one years ago and another more recently and with EV's pretty much not being older than 15 years old, we can assume thats the newer one.
At some point, the horse and buggy become obsolete.
You think that's it's something else, because of course.
Deny it all you want, but you're wrong. The Detroit 3 would have been perfectly fine producing vehicles they actually make a profit on, trucks. And continuing to refine ICE power, with some hybrids thrown in. The global push to go "green" , along with our own countries policies have forced them to transition to BEV's.
Mass is following Calif. No new gas powered autos sold from 2035 onward. Course no one believes there is enough electrons being produced to power millions of cars! Details, details!
I wonder if it has occurred to anyone to challenge this fascism Constitutionally. And, for that matter, all of the associated fascism that led up to it.
None of it could withstand such a challenge in an intellectually developed and free society.

The world has never seen a global attack such as this....and that is true for one reason only. Much as it could have been done against third-world developing nations eons ago, the United States and a few other 1st-world powers would have never stood for it.
Clearly, that has profoundly changed via ground-up (infant-up) indoctrination over the last 35 years. The resistance of an educated and well motivated population (such as that which founded our nation) has been subdued, defeated. It is now a world of passivity, obedience....put simply, a world of morons - all of it.
Considering the focal point of protecting the individual rights to freedom at the heart of our Constitution, and considering the lies fabricated for the sole purpose of advancing the fascist anti-freedom agenda that now threatens the freedom and living standard of the entire world, your question is a bit like asking....what is wet about water?
I'm not the one denying anything. You do know that the United States also isn't the only market for their vehicles, right?
I addressed that, more than once in this thread. Again, global "green" policies, along with our own countries has driven this. And yes, to remain relative in the global market they had to transition.
Your denial is that this wasn't policy driven. It definitely wasn't consumer driven.
