Imagine a senior citizen or someone on a fixed income trying to afford A electric car. Most people is holding on to their old cars.
My bet is on Hyundai/Kia will push the cost of electric cars downwards. They have some of the best battery technology right now and Tesla is still very much a luxury make most people can’t afford. An electric equivalent of a Kia Spectra or Hyundai Accent is coming and will likely become the economy car of choice for much of the world

For people laughing at California, this is not just about California. There are 17 blue states likely to follow California's lead and also ban the sales of gasoline powered vehicles by 2035.

More than one-third of US states may follow California and ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars. Here are the states that may be next.

New York
Massachusetts
Vermont
Maine
Washington
Connecticut
Oregon
New Jersey
Maryland
Delaware
Colorado
Rhode Island
Minnesota
New Mexico
Virginia
Nevada
Pennsylvania

Is America still a free country when politicians and climate change charlatans tell us what we can or can not drive?

Yes. Government has the power to make laws for the common good. California has been telling people what they can drive since the 1960s. The air there is far better than it used to be, but still not as good as it could be.

I don't think that there are climate change charlatans. Climate is changing, temperatures are trending upwards. The charlatans are the ones that insist we can totally eliminate hydrocarbons, which isn't true at all, given the number of uses for them outside of transportation fuel. Plus, the change to electric vehicles will not be an all at once thing. Cars and over the road trucks are the first phase, since there aren't any obvious solutions to large farm machines and trans-continental trains yet. The issue with trains is that there is not currently an economic way to install electric lines on all of the rail lines, especially in the mountain areas. For farming, where larger farms are using tractors from 400hp to 1500hp, there are no currently feasible solutions, since the machines have to run 24 hours a day at planting and harvest times.

They will become the polluters of the world.. Electric comes from fossil fuels. Those solar panels leach toxic elements into the soil.. they will poison themselves all in the name of a healthy environment. How dumb they are. The waste they create will become the next big problem with no answers.

It's about coercing the use of public transportation and associated lifestyle. In other words they want as many as possible in apartments near public transportation. Home ownership pffft. Live only where you work. It's about limiting mobility then freedom.

It's pretty interesting in that it will create a huge market for EV manufacturers, will likely catch on and spread, and will require some serious efforts to meet the electrical demand of these new vehicles.

Do they intend to have an electrical grid and infrastructure to support this fantasy?

The rule, issued by the California Air Resources Board on Thursday, will force automakers to speed up production of cleaner vehicles beginning in 2026 until sales of only zero-emission cars, pickup trucks and SUVs are allowed in the state.

Speaking of fantasies, the whole notion that there is such a thing as a "zero emissions car," is a lie, or a fantasy if you like.

Yup. The state highway patrol will need a very large fleet of EV charging emergence vehicles. Can you imagine rush hour traffic and all the drivers who were unaware their car didn't have enough battery charge to play the radio, keep the AC blowing, with kids watching streaming video in the back seat, while sitting in the hot sun, stuck in a traffic jam?
