Then please, explain to me in a non-extreme manner how you would change someones mind regarding dating norms. I'm honestly curious, because I've NEVER been able to change any of my friends minds.

You discuss things rationally.

Not that I'm sure such a concept exists to the CDers

I've done that. Didn't work.

Most people are fairly set in their ways, especially considering dating.

Obviously, it'll never work on anyone ever then.

And from my memory of your posts in this thread, I'm not sure you're capable of having a rational discussion about this topic.

I remember you going the 'give her an itemized bill at the end of the date' route and not being able to answer the question 'why should the man pay'.

Then please, explain away. You keep dodging the question by saying 'discuss it rationally'. That's a bit too vague for my taste, so please explain it with a bit more detail.

And I did answer it. A woman should always pay her own way so the guy she's dating doesn't expect anything from her.

Instead of explaining it. I'll use an example.

Is that the only reason?

Please, feel free to use an example.

And it's the main reason for me. That, and I make my own money and can support myself. Plus, I've never had a guy offer to pay for me so it's been a non-issue in my life so far.

Really, the main reason that a woman should contribute to dates is so that the man shouldn't expect anything from her?

Do you think that most women make their own money and can support themselves?

Where do you think the tradition of the man paying came from?

Most of the women I know make their own money and can support themselves. Most of them pay their own way. I've always felt that women should pay their own way because they're adults and that's what adults do.

Are there women out there that expect a man to pay for them? Sure! Just as there are plenty of men out there that feel they should pay for their dates. They can all date each other. Problem solved!
