That just does not sound like a typical, hearty Alaskan meal. You must be a transplant. Surprised to hear they have avocado in Alaska (which I despise btw...cilantro is much better). If you enjoyed it, that is all that counts.

Tonight we have egg in Dijon mustard sauce, hot ginger tea with a sprinkle of red chili and for dessert 1/2 a pink grapefruit.

4 hard-boiled eggs
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1/4 cup diced onion
375 ml vegetable broth
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
salt/black pepper/sugar to taste

Saute diced onion in the butter, add flour, salt and broth.Cook for 15 minutes stirring with a whisk to make sure no lumps are left from the flour.Flavor with the Dijon mustard, sugar, salt, black pepper.Lastly add 125 ml whipping creme and mix well. Add hard boiled eggs and sprinkle with chive and curly parsley. We serve boiled cubed salt potatoes sprinkled with curly parsley over them.

My ginger tea I drink;
(1/4 cup grated fresh ginger
4 cups boiling water
4 tsp honey)
I make this tea for meals, for afternoons or in summertime I sit it in the fridge and just add some Perrier water.

Cold and dreary out plus need to be meatless tonight. Thinking pan fried tofu with black bean paste sauce. Will add veggies and serve it all over steamed rice.

Yeap. Great minds! It's my wife's version of ZT .

A number of years ago she tasted OG's version, and then went home to whip up her own even better version.

She's always been that way. She can (and will) sniff out ingredients, and then whip up better versions!!

She could have been a gourmet chef! I'm a very lucky man!
