Maybe a better question to ask is why does gig work doesn't count as being in the workforce? They're working and earning money to live off of, aren't they? Traditional jobs aren't entitled to have people fill them. If they want to have workers, they need to be competitive to all types of jobs available.

Gig work.. While it's different in every situation.. I often equate with being underemployed.

Now, certainly, as a blanket statement, that's not accurate. But.. In reality.. I think that at least a majority of 'gig' workers are underemployed.

Does that not also apply to people working normal jobs? Either way, that doesn't explain why those people wouldn't be considered to be in the workforce.

Excluding people that have make money and pay income taxes from the labor participation rate artificially deflates the number and I don't have any idea what the goal of doing so would be.

Well, here's the definition

Quote:
What Is the Labor Force Participation Rate?

The labor force participation rate is an estimate of an economy’s active workforce. The formula is the number of people ages 16 and older who are employed or actively seeking employment, divided by the total non-institutionalized, civilian working-age population.

So.. Seems gig workers are counted in that. And it's still in the low 60% range.

Looks like that shopping strip along Magnolia park is going to be crickets. It's going to be hard to find retailing tenants now's and days.

Thank goodness Bed Bath & Beyond sold Christmas Tree Shops and World Market (Greenridge) to other private companies a couple of years ago or there would really be a retail apacalypse on Woodruff Rd.

Anyone have any ideas what is going on with Greenlight Chevrolet down in Laurens?

I had an oil change scheduled and confirmed with them this AM.. Went.. There's NO cars.. Sign on the service center door that says they're running 9am to 6pm daily.. My appt was at 8:30am..

Came back at 9am.. No one there.

They have next to no vehicles on the lot.

I'd kinda heard it was being sold again, but.. It's odd.

I noticed, when was it, last Friday I think, Woodruff had several cars with a Greenlight sticker on the back. Didnt think much of it sine dealers swap vehicles a good bit between each other.
