Anyone doing anything special for the Longest Day Of The Year tomorrow? It's kind of a big thing here. They have free events all day long, starting with sunrise yoga at the beach, and ending with sunset kayaking and moonlight fishing.

We're doing the sunrise yoga, a scavenger hunt, maybe the "discovery boat tour" (not really sure what that is, LOL, but it's booking up already so might be fun) and if we can't get on the boat tour we might do something called a water battle in the pool. They supply some sort of kayak or canoe, but participants are told to bring "your own version of a shield, buckets to douse other people, water pistols if you wish, and plenty of towels".
If we have any energy after that (doubt it, LOL) we might try the moonlight fishing. I told my DH that it will be strictly catch and release, though. No way am I cleaning any fish.
Just got back from Sunrise Yoga, and it was awesome! It was right on the beach, and the wind was blowing so we had some good sized waves. Beautiful, although the crashing waves meant I couldn't hear the instructor. No problem, I just did what the guy next to me was doing. Osprey were flying around, checking us out, and other birds were singing. The temps were nice, since the sun had barely risen.
I was amazed at how many people showed up for this. Who knew so many people were up at 5 am? But you know what, if they decide to do this again I'll be there, crazy hour and all. Once you actually get out of bed, it turns out that seeing the sunrise while you're on a beach is awesome.
It's now officially summer. Time for little umbrellas in my drink and naps in the afternoon.
Piney, sounds like a good way to wake up and bring in summer. Speaking of summer, it seems to be missing in the Chicago area. It's been cold, rainy and bone chilling at times. If nothing else it's very green around here as the plants and flowers are spectacular this year.
