You mean to "serve and protect" like this?
This
is Slavyansk that Ukranian army is shelling from that very Karachun.
I'd be curious. Any pieces done by Rossiya or Ukraine itself on the position the Ukrainian army finds itself in the face of 'separatist' violence within the country? Any news outlet in Rossiya discussing this for example?
It is hard to speak quietly with armed separatists

We all know that operations against gangsters and rebels are carried out using force and weapon. You aren't astonished that a policeman has a gun and uses it if it is necessary, aren't you?
And I can tell about some recent adventures of the rebels (2 June).
The storm of the main police department of the city Shachty (Donetsk region).
The terrorists set mines at the territory of some factories in Slavjansk.
The separatists attack the detachment of border guards in Lugansk. The fight has begun in the morning and continues all day long. The terrorists have destroyed the command checkpoint, some buildings and garages. The rebels hide in the multi-storey buildings not to have been killed by soldiers.
There aren't photos from Lugansk now. But this is how it looks in Slavjansk.

Of course there are "photos from Lugansk now."
Here they are - more dead bodies of civilians; the administrative building has been hit this time around.
( the guy in a car apparently who makes the first comment is saying "that's how Kiev's government loves Lugansk - so they are flying here, *observing us, protecting us...* )
The interesting thing is that what separates Germany from the Ultra Nationalist Banderites is the fact that Germany has taken responibility for the atrocities they commited during WW2. But insted of apologies the Banderites write handbooks on how to escape responsibility for the crimes they commited and still today parade proudly with medals given by the Germans and portray themselves as heroes and also as victims if needed.
Still to this day Stepan Bandera is a celebrated figure in Ukraine and they are waiting for an EU membership!

I am sure there are some statues of Lenin and Stalin across other parts of the former Soviet Union. Have any Russians "taken responsibility for the atrocities that were committed during World War Two"?

Probably not. But then again they are not parading to the lap of EU with Third Reich medals like Ukraine. As for now Ukraine is simply not eligible for a membership unless EU fudges the admission criteria.

They fudged the admission criteria for several countries' entry into the euro in the late 1990s, they have fudged deficit and debt rules from the beginning, what makes you think they wouldn't fudge the rules in other cases?
I didn't inhale. Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. Subprime is AAA. You can keep your current plan.
C'mon, the rule of law is mostly a myth, applied from time to time at the convenience of men who wield power.

France and Germany oppose the idea and do not want to spoon feed 40 million people. This might sound harsh but EU has simply no interest in Ukraine and to provoke Russia especially now would be a huge mistake.
