Well, this is one way to look at it. It can be viewed that Kiev and the rest of Ukraine split from Donbass if Donbass still holds Yanukovich as the legitimate president. So in fact Kiev and other areas rebelled against the government, and now the final parts of the original government as held by Yanukovich is defending itself against the rebels. This would be similar to a "government in exile" situation.
Not exactly, people here a bit disappointed with Yanukovich' actions, I mean his escape. You are right, in fact he is still legitimate president of Ukraine, but who cares about Constitution in Kiev? The most people in Ukraine doesn't know theyr rights and laws, so Kiyv often violates the rights of Ukrainians
Where was that ethnicity, language and mentality during 1991-2013? Nowhere! There simply wasn't any, and still isn't. Only the armed junta.
I want to disappoint you, they are still here and were all these years. Very big part of Donetsk and Lugansk people even can't speak Ukrainian and celebrate Russian holidays. And the first time when we were asking about authonomy, was after the first maydan, 10 years ago
The result such shelling in Lugansk, Donetsk, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk: (21+)
I am sorry for those people. I looked on a map where all the violence is raging. Makes a nice pattern. For eventual annexation if this conflict continues and Mr. Putin doesn't care a hoot for sanctions?

As for the above, it is not truth. This war unfortunately casts truth as a casualty to all the various agendas running around in Ukraine and Russia.
Last night I viewed America's blunder into Vietnam. The take away there is that strife has a nasty habit of sucking in the antagonists so that even though thought went into decision-making it couldn't hold off the relentess push by events
to build the road to more and more terrible war. Russia and Ukraine could perhaps be going through this scenario if they are not careful. Guns are speaking more than diplomacy.
War is bad, nobody can argue.
But the separatists bring devastation, shooting and disorder.
The Ukrainian army has to get out the separatists from the East of the country.

Maybe it should make Ukrainian politicians? But it is not the same as jumping on the Maidan.
