Blacks have problems, regardless of point of origin. This nonsense about which black is better than which. parroting nonsense drawn from white supremacist sites is really sad. The same people who pay Rocko to spend all day writing poison about American blacks, and who pat the sad little Sierra Leonean's head when he parrots racist nonsense about black Americans, will tell black Americans that all Africans do is slice off the breasts of women, and chop the hands of kids. Yes we hear every bit of sordid news of Africa and little of the positive news.

True and 90% of them vote for the Democratic party, despite your screams that every Democratic voting black is a lazy bum who just wants welfare.

My opinions haven't changed. It isn't that they are embraced by Africans. Its that they arrive with the same American privilege that you enjoy in Europe. And yes I know what that privilege is, even though I am not black American. To most English speaking blacks are seen as American and so benefit from this privilege. I saw this blatantly while I was in Brazil and was able to easily enter spaces where local blacks had to be very wary of.

If a poor black American showed up in Africa they aren't going to be accepted. Blacks who descend from the Transatlantic slave trade are different from those who never left Africa. Those of us who understand and accept this will have a more beneficial experience when they get there. They will understand the Ghanaian taxi driver who looks at them and said that they were lucky that their ancestors were dragged away as slaves as they can now live in the "great USA". This while the Ghanaians (who weren't enslaved) must scheme and engage on all manner of trickery to get a visa to visit the USA in the hope that they could stay.

Poor people don't have passports, can't afford the airplane ticket, so that's not even a factor..........

The Ghanian taxi driver may have a different idea of the US when his son as an incident with the police, and when you know who unreservedly back the police. There are other problems beyond this. The US doesn't even seem to let in that many Africans. Africans come to NYC in comparatively small numbers compared to Chinese or South Asians. NYC doesn't have a single predominate African neighborhood, like there are Russian neighborhoods.

That should say something right there.

In Barcelona those that get welfare live in housing projects outside the city. There are rundown neighborhoods in the city proper, but those are gentrifying.

And yes about the problems of Blacks, regardless of origin.

Good to see influential musicians like Kanye West and Chance the Rapper showing their black conservative roots as African Americans. With the new black conservative movement I have no doubt African Americans and African immigrants will learn to work together and climb up the social ladder collectively without blaming outside forces, colonization, or history for self-inflicted issues and social regression.

I don't think he's a jackass, but if he is, whatever. I do think he's entitled to vote for who he pleases. That's really all that should be said about that.

Not at all. Kanye has been a long time supporter of Trump and conservatism.

This was taken years back when Trump won. It's weird that so many people have short term memory.

That should say something right there.

Poor Africans manage to get all the way to Sweden so poverty doesn't restrict travel. The Senegalese and Malians living in NYC tend to be poor and yet they can get a passport and a plane to arrive in the USA. These tend not to be your African doctors and engineers.

Poor AAs don't perceive benefit from leaving the USA so they don't, so have no need for a passport. More affluent AAs who do most likely do so for experience, not to improve their financial situation. They want to experience something different from life in the USA, not because they think that they will become more affluent.

The Ghanaian might tell you that police in that country can also be lawless so I doubt that this will impact how he feels. This might even be something as small as refusing to/being unable to pay a bribe. So that alone isn't going to change how he sees the USA. He sees the AA living in the USA and him struggling to get there, or to the UK. If the AA doesn't emphasize with this perspective, but instead wallows in his own definition of what being black is then we aren't getting any real "black brotherhood" going on.

There are large numbers of Africans now living in NYC. That they live in neighborhoods with other blacks doesn't change this fact. When next you are in NYC jump on the #4. There are now large communities from Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, and Senegal. The Anglophones live among Caribbean immigrants while the Francophone Muslims as well as some Ghanaians live in the west Bronx.
