I have received additional information about the nine-year-old since writing my post on the previous page. The problem only surfaced in September of this year and it was thought that it could be controlled with more conservative measures. But now he will have to remain hospitalized until such time as he can received a new heart. It boggles my mind what that family must be going through. I could post a link here which contains a description plus updates, but don't think it would be appropriate because it identifies the boy and his parents by name. (The link was written for people who know the family personally).

I taught public school for several years and the toughest part was the emotional toll. It can be devastating. People have no idea.
We're just now getting a light snow after rain. I'll see how late I can stay up to see what happens here. Doesn't feel like what the news is saying will happen just yet.
Do people in other parts of the country say that it "smells like snow"?
Just wondering.
I've never heard that here. It smells like fall or spring or even rain but not snow - maybe too cold to "smell".
