( Their utilities bills are out of hands overall I think.)

Thanks Zimogor!

At least this gives me much better understanding of how much their utilities went up, after the coup d'etat of 2014.

Soo... Per unit ( not sure what the units are, but never the less...)

Before 2014 ( Yanukovich times.) ( 2010-2014)

Gas ( the kind they use for the stove tops ( I assume electric stove tops are not common over there.)

.48 kopeks ( cents)

Light .33 kopeks

Water: 3 grivnas

Heat: 2.8 grivnas

The rate exchange for 1 dollar was 8 grivnas at that point.

Now here comes Poroshenko as a president ( 2014-2019)

Gas: 8.5. grivnas

Light: 0.90-1.68 grivnas.

Water: 15.7 grivnas

Heat: 33 grivnas

The rate exchange for 1 dollar is 30 grivnas at this point.

Zelensky as president ( from 2019)

Gas: 10.5 grivnas

Light: 1.68 grivnas

Water: 40 grivnas

Heat: 43 grivnas

The rate exchange for 1 dollar is 28 grivnas.

Conclusion:
They must be out of their collective mind ( speaking of the "free and democratic" Ukrainian government.)

In other curious news; I've noticed after one of the last dispatches of A. Sharij on his plans to visit Russia to get vaccinated by "Sputnik V" vaccine, the "60 minutes" invited him to participate in their program from EU ( where he is) via satellite.

Lately I was avoiding their program, because there was a barrage of propaganda connected to US elections, but I watched this particular segment.

So basically they are questioning him here, (since he is such a controversial figure in Ukrainian politics,) whether his public announcement of such intention won't hurt his reputation.

To which he said that he basically doesn't care who thinks what about him ("the intelligent people will figure it all out, and the rest are none of my interest.)
I am not making secret that I do like Russian culture - I like Russian classical literature, I like Russian painters and I like Russian food. So why can't I travel to Russia for the first time in 12 years, and as for my decision to be vaccinated by "Sputnik V" - there is nothing political about it.

It's like choosing a car - everyone has different preferences.

But when I am buying a car, and I don't know much about them, I should probably ask for advise from the specialists first.
So I asked an advise of one particular military epidemeologist, what vaccines out there are the best, and unfortunately according to him, Pfizer was not on top of that list.

I don't want to put Pfizer down - it's a new and interesting technology, and I am sure a lot of people will get the benefits of it, but I would rather prefer some older technologies in this case.

The news of those twenty three Norwegians that died after vaccination are a bit unsettling too.
Of course it might be their age and all, but I know personally some people that used "Sputnik V" and they are doing fine, which confirms my choice."

( I didn't want to talk about those news from Norway earlier, but since they already posted about it in "Politics" section...

I was trying to figure out why the Russian obsession with Ukrainian prices, utilities and the rest. Usually when Russians concern themselves with something more than Ukrainians do, there has to be a reason. I doubt it is genuine concern that this is floating around in their information bubble, it never is. Turns out this is becoming quite the topic in Russia since they have their own inflation problems. Nothing like a good dose of propaganda to keep them from realizing their own issues are the fault of their own government.

Don't worry guys, help is on the way! You got the world first and best vaccine, per your leader. So the virus is over and your salaries are higher to pay the higher prices on your goods, so all good now.

DCM, you're not trying hard enough. Think, strain your mind ! In Russia, no one has discussed Ukrainian affairs for a long time, except for a few fecal shows on television and radio.

Now a few reasons why this is happening on this forum in this discussion thread.

1) Pay attention to the name of the forum thread. ))What else is there to discuss?

2) you, and not only you, regularly remind about yourself, so as not to forget.

3) You and many others strongly boast about the success of the so-called revolution of dignity and strongly recommend that we do the same at home. So we look at what you have achieved there. Isn't that reasonable?

Here, this is probably all the reasons for the pathetic remnants of attention that are paid to Ukrainian affairs in Russia. You can fantasize as much as you want that the whole of Russia just sits all day and listens to how terrible it is in Ukraine. No, he doesn't listen, everyone already knows. Relax DKM and finally visit Ukraine physically, it will be very informative.

Ha, back to the forcible Ukrainianization of the Russian-speaking regions, and threat of the fines for speaking Russian in service sector.

I see the new type of comments here; some Ukrainian speakers are DENOUNCING UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE now. ( In their native Ukrainian, yes.)

This is something new, because earlier ukr. speakers were showing up in comments section only to gloat.

Couple of other interesting comments;

"Let's hope someone will snitch on Zelensky's parents first" ( they are native Russian speakers.)

and

"Can I ask now for the political asylum in the US, for the language persecution?"

Just to add insult to injury shrinkflation also hit Ukraine.

Bunge is a company that makes cooking oil. Their 1 ltr bottle of sunflower oil was reduced to 850 grams and the same price if not more was charged for it.

In Russia a litre of cooking oil is still a litre according to what I read.

Shrinkflation is the practice of shrinking the size of a product. It's often done in a deceptive manner.

Pubs seldom sell a 16 oz pint anymore. The glass is still the same size when you look at it but now the bottom and walls are thicker reducing the volumn it holds. Thus the 14oz pint.
