People in the Crimea did not want sovereignty or autonomy. They wanted to go back to Russia, where the standard of living is higher than in the Ukraine. Dialogue would be left without a result.
Yeah, but how many wanted to be part of Russia? Certainly not 98%, like Russia wanted us make to believe. You see, there is still a sizeable ethnic-Ukrainian and Tatar population on the peninsula. Russia basically denied them a choice by what they did.

From what I've heard, the actual % who voted was less than 40...
I suppose 40 was before all the events. Sure, TV fueled people's hopes and fears. Nothing new here.
Europe partly did the same, but without an invasion. They painted the bright picture for the people who protested. How this bright picture corresponds with the reality we will have an opportunity to see.
I'm tired of all of this.

About 98% in Crimea,,,
Last our presedent vote had wached the same % "for" Putin in several regions of Russia. In the same time there are a lot of negative sentiment against Putin in ru-internet (ex.: Votes 2012 - Путин = Putin = only 15% "for" )
So, Crimea vote is nothing amazingly.
Our votes have been counted us instead

I guess no one took your general elections seriously either... Except some observers, which funnily enough were the same right-wing politicians from Western Europe as in Crimea...
I think
1. russians people, which live in Eastern Ukraine, try to neutralize the current regional power (Crimean scenario)
2. armed forces of Ukraine open fire
3. armed forces of Russia enters to Eastern Ukraine to protect russians.
And they as usual will stop somewhere near, example, Atlantic ocean ))

"I.M.F. Prepares $18 Billion in Loans for Ukraine"
"The agreement...will hinge on the country taking steps to let the value of its currency float downward, to cut corruption and red tape, and, crucially, to reduce huge state subsidies for the consumption of natural gas."
"...loans from the United States and from the I.M.F. would be structured to get the government through its first few months without undue political upheaval, putting off some of the more difficult changes until after the May election."
"RIVNE, Ukraine (CNN) -- Camouflage-clad militiamen hoist AK-47 assault rifles to their shoulders and blast off a 21-shot salute.
As the muzzles flash, another squad of ultra-nationalist fighters chants, "Our hero is not dead. Glory to him."
A few yards away, a Ukrainian Orthodox priest swings an incense burner. A mother and father weep over the coffin of their dead son.
The killing of radical nationalist leader Oleksandr Muzychko, also known by his nickname "Sasha the White" was enough to make shaven-headed, hardened paramilitary men cry."
The freedom fighter outlived his usefulness I guess for both the West and the new Ukrainian government.
