I wonder how small details can change the meaning of written.

Russian version of events:

In 1783, Russia signed an agreement with Irakli Georgievsk Treaty, which establishing a Russian protectorate over the kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti in exchange for military protection of Russia. However, in 1787, Irakli signed a separate peace with the Turks, which was a violation of the fourth article of Georgievsk Treaty. In this regard, the Russian troops out of Georgia, leaving her defenseless.

I wonder, whose version is correct. History is very exciting experience.

The distortion of history periodically everywhere present, but that this distortion is a consequence of serious propaganda of the West
Most residents of France and Germany believe that the main role in the liberation of Europe from fascism belongs to the American troops. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by the British Agency ICM Research.
28.04.2015, 10:53
So, 61% of the French and 52% of Germans found the actions of the American army major for the liberation of the continent. In the UK, we agree, 16%, said RIA Novosti.
46% of Britons surveyed believe that a key role was played by the army of the United Kingdom. Recognition of U.S. troops became the most popular result — 43% of respondents in the UK, France and Germany feel that way.
Only 13% of survey participants noted that the main role in the liberation of Europe belongs to the Soviet army.
The study was conducted from 20 March to 9 April 2015 in the UK, France and Germany. The sample consisted of 3000 people.

The original RT news in Russian:
Опрос: европейцы считают, что США освободили Европу от фашизма
P. S. Wikipedia I wouldn't trust, because here the story is written, updated and changed by any user (as in the case with Boeing that was shot down in 2014 on the territory of Ukraine, the technical characteristics of combat aircraft were modified in the near future)

Reading many of the naive posts on here, I can totally understand why an autocratic bully like Putin can hoodwink a vast population by pretending to be the strong man. And that he can re-draw internationally recognised boundaries by force. You people are so gullible, but then you have no history of democratic scrutiny. You only play with democracy.

If Russia wants another cold war (and by it's current massively increased military budget, it obviously does) then it should be given one. It's nothing more than a middle eastern oil desert with trees anyhow. Frankly, Eastern Ukrainians who want to run to the embrace of the Bear should be allowed to do so - those in the West can come and join civilisation, so long as they behave appropriately.

As for Russia Today - it's watched widely over here, predominantly as a comedy channel.

Everyone has an opinion, and it at it will remain. I'm not surprised the Western channels which say that Russia is famous for balalaikas, drunken bears on the streets or tanks just driving through the roads of Russia. Russia is the same country as everyone else. And Putin's reaction can be understood, artificially created military conflicts (Abkhazia, North Ossetia, and now Ukraine) on the border with Russia. Military capacity is a commonplace of modern life. Even if we take for example the sanctions of the European countries, Russia only introduced countermeasures in response to them...Russia has always defended, and will be protecting all Russian-speaking citizens of the country and Russian-speaking citizens living in other countries...the Crimea is a separate subject, is a native Russian territory and it is rightfully returned to Russia
P. S. the RT is the only channel which shows the shelling of Donbass by the Ukrainian troops, conducted live broadcasts from these places.
Misunderstanding of the situation arises because of the absence of an alternative assessment of the situation, although in Europe persecuted dissent. So there is nothing surprising.

It's not funny. Funny that the West considers only himself a true civilization.

Where did I say "only"? Nothing exclusive at all.

Purely making a comparison.

I'd say a few good measures are how it treats it's minorities (of all kinds), whether it has a truly independent media, whether the rule of law prevails for everyone and whether it's head of state is evaluated by quality of policy and competence rather than how many goals he/she can score in a stage managed ice hockey game.

Putin is a laughing stock from one side of the globe to the other.

Compare phrase:

"those in the West can come and join civilisation" and "those in the West can come and join Western civilisation"

Perhaps, will you allow Russians to decide who should be their president? Stop insulting Russian president. If he wants play hockey, he plays hockey. Why do you care? 100 years ago Stolypin (Russian Minister of Finance) said: "You want a great upheaval, I want a great Russia." Currently, Russians do not need your advice.
